SEDD Branches Complete 8,977 Licenses & Conduct 38,140 Inspection Campaigns

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” completed 8,977 issued and renewed licenses during the third quarter of this year, according to the data released by SEDD branches located in various cities and regions in Sharjah.

In detail, the number of licenses issued and renewed in the Industrial Branch reached 5978 during the third quarter of this year. On the other hand, the Central Region Branch came second with 1,661 licenses, Then, Khor Fakkan Branch reached 618 licenses, whereas Kalba branch received 607 licenses. Moreover, Dibba Al Hisn Branch hit 113 issued and renewed licenses during the same period of this year.

Also, SEDD Commercial Officers at its branches in the Central and Eastern Regions as well as the Industrial Areas branch  held many inspection campaigns which reached 37,140 ones during the third quarter, with an increase of 84% over the same period in 2020. These teams work continuously to ensure the safety of all economic practices in economic establishments in all regions of the emirate. Likely, SEDD branches have intensified their role during the current period in order to ensure that all establishments comply with the instructions, circulars and policies regulating the conduct of business.

In the context of the geographical distribution and the number of inspection campaigns of the Department’s branches during the same period, the Industrial Areas Branch recorded the highest rate in the number of inspection campaigns, with 21,576 visits.  Also, the number of campaigns in the Central Region branch reached 8,450 ones. In addition, the number of campaigns in Khor Fakkan branch reached 3,746 ones. When it comes to Kalba branch, it recorded 3,302 visits while    Dibba Al Hisn branches held 1,066 campaigns. 

HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, stated that the movement of licenses during the third quarter confirms the strength of the local economy and the attractiveness of the investment environment. He confirmed that these indicators confirms the sustainable growth for the economy in Sharjah, as the Emirate has a strategy through which it seeks to maintain a good pace in growth rates during the next phase. Such thing depends on elements of attraction that include the distinguished geographical location and the great development witnessed by the service sectors. Also, it focuses on the continuous development of services to match the highest international quality standards in terms of speed of completion and access to dealers in the economic sector and investors, as well as striving to complete transactions easily and smoothly.

Furthermore, HE stressed that the economic strategy adopted by SEDD, which goes in line with the directions of UAE wise leadership, ensures the achievement of good and constantly developing growth rates. HE stated that the development process is witnessed in all cities of the especially in urban renaissance that has been clearly reflected on the development projects. Such thing will help to attract a larger number of visitors, enhance the economy and increase investments in Sharjah.

From his side, Khalfan Al Herathi, Director of SEDD Branches, said that the Eastern Region witnesses a remarkable investment movement, as the huge development projects launched by HH Ruler of Sharjah, had a great impact on the economic sector. He added that SEDD indicators for the recent period confirm that the issuing licenses rates have achieved a remarkable increase of 18% over last year, which reflects the commercial and economic recovery in the Region.

Moreover, AL Herathi confirmed that SEDD provides advanced digital services and the uses the latest remote communication technologies to communicate with partners and the public of dealers. Also, SEDD works to ensure that services are provided in a smooth and safe way. All of this contributed to encouraging and motivating business and expanding trade and economic activities in Sharjah, along with other attractions from a distinct geographical location. It should be noted that number of tourist and urban facilities, as well as tourism and commercial projects, have been launched, which will contribute to increasing the investment demand.
