HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD”, received a delegation from  Sharjah Consultative Council “SCC” which was headed by HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman of the Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee from SCC and Committee members from the main building. The meeting was held in order to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two parties and to discuss ways to achieve sustainable economic development in Sharjah through using best technical and human resources as well as providing all needed services to investors in easy and effective means.

 At the beginning of the meeting, HE SEDD Chairman greeted the guests and stressed on the importance of holding such meetings that would enhance cooperation and coordination to contribute to achieving sustainable economic development for the emirate.

Likely HE AL Suwaidi stated that SEDD is inspired by the visions and thoughts of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Such visions go in line with UAE vision, which aims to make Sharjah one of the best cities at the regional and international levels. Also, it responses to the economic changes that is happening in the local area which require the cooperation between all concerned entities to keep up with the latest developments and to come up with a communication system and infrastructure which contributes to building a sustainable business environment in Sharjah.

During the meeting, the most important economic indicators of the emirate were reviewed. Also, economic analysis of the latest commercial and industrial data and developments in the emirate according to the economic sectors were discussed. In addition, SEDD affirmed that it will continue to study the economic situation of Sharjah directly through the implementation of a number of meetings with investors in order to learn about the obstacles they face and overcome them. Moreover, the presentation played by SEDD dealt with the initiatives provided by it to the investors to motivate them to expand their projects and achieve their sustainability thus to attract more investors to the emirate.

It is worth mentioning that SEDD achievements and investments in the technological infrastructure and its development of a number of electronic and smart services were also indicated, whereas the Department provides 102 digital services that benefit investors, the government and private sector and strategic partners. Such thing is done in order to simplify procedures for investors, and provide many channels to complete transactions as quickly as possible thus to serve the local economy, enhance the movement of investments, and achieve sustainable economic development in the emirate. The Department also continuously seeks to activate e-linking with all concerned government entities to facilitate procedures for investors, which greatly contributes to attracting investment to the emirate. This helps to achieve its vision of leadership in comprehensive development to attain a diversified, competitive and innovative knowledge –based economy.

Furthermore, HE SEDD Chairman illustrated that the Department will continue to coordinate with the Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee of the Consultative Council of Sharjah by updating it with the latest developments in the economic field.

On the other hand, HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman of the Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee from SCC, expressed his thanks and gratitude to SEDD. He added that the meeting was an opportunity to have an idea about SEDD’s initiatives and plans. Also,  he carried on that they learned about SEDD’s efforts

for the efforts to advance the economic work in the emirate, and praised the clear development methodology adopted by the Department. Also, HE stressed on the necessity of continuing the coordination process between the two sides to ensure integration, communication and exchange of experiences in various fields to reach a distinctive economic development vision and plan. to enhance the economic environment in the Emirate of Sharjah, not only in the city of Sharjah, but in the central and eastern regions, especially during dealing with the pandemic and the system of packages witnessed by the emirate.

HE Al Midfa added that they have noted the tremendous efforts made by the Department in order to provide an attractive economic environment in the Emirate of Sharjah and the proactive steps it takes to provide support and assistance to stimulate investments. In addition, they have seen how SEDD cooperates with public and private sectors to implement the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in achieving growth opportunities at all promising economic sectors in Sharjah.

Moreover, SEDD appreciated the efforts of the Consultative Council in ensuring the development of the work mechanism in all parties, in order to achieve a great return in the performance of institutions and to meet the needs of all members of society.
