SEDD receives DSCDSHJ & SFD

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” received a delegation from Department of Statistics and Community Development and Sharjah Finance Department, with the aim of consolidating cooperation relations between the local authorities in the emirate and to discuss the progress of work in a number of projects and initiatives. The meeting dealt with a number of issues of common concern, including working to provide integrated statistical data and modern indicators on the economic performance of Sharjah. Also, the meeting included facilitating the process of exchanging data and information between the concerned government agencies and departments, in a way that enhances the levels of the statistical process and supports sustainable development strategies in the Emirate.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, welcomed HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development “DSCDSHJ”, and Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of DSCDSHJ, as well as the accompanying delegation. Also, HE SEDD Chairman welcomed the delegation of Sharjah Finance Department. HE SEDD Chairman expressed the role of this visit in strengthening the various cooperation relations and accelerating the development process, and that such visits and meetings are an important station for enhancing cooperation and exchanging visions between the various government agencies in the emirate. During the meeting, the process of data exchange between the concerned authorities was discussed in order to achieve the desired results of the statistical process. Which, in turn, is the main supporter of updating the database, statistics and analyzes for investors and decision makers to reach its vision of leadership in comprehensive development to achieve a competitive, diversified and innovative knowledge-based economy in accordance with its strategic plan calling for contribution to planning and leading comprehensive economic development in Sharjah.

Furthermore, HE SEDD Chairman stressed that the Department is working on implementing economic plans and conducting studies in a way that contributes to the development of the work system. This is done to find outputs that serve all parties to advance the levels of service provided, in order to read the reality of the economy in the emirate and monitor the changes that affect the sustainable development process. Likely, this contributes to providing more services and facilities necessary for the business environment in the emirate, thus it helps to build a strong and solid economy characterized by knowledge and sustainability, supports attracting foreign investments in all sectors, and enhances the country's competitiveness at the global level.

On the other hand, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of DSCDSHJ, emphasized on the importance of coordination between the various economic authorities in the Emirate, especially to facilitate exchanging data and indicators, which contribute to highlighting the clear progress of the economic growth process witnessed by Sharjah recently with the required accuracy. HE highlighted the results of the comprehensive economic survey conducted by the Department in cooperation with partners recently. It is worth mentioning that the survey showed the qualitative growth achieved by Sharjah's economy to become one of the most developed economies in the region.

In the end, SEDD appreciated the role played by the delegations. Also, he praised the concerns of authorities on cooperation in various fields between the two sides in line with the standards of local and federal government service. They emphasized the importance of holding such meetings because of their role in accelerating the development process and enhancing the investment movement in the emirate.
